Tales of Relative Magick

Where the forests are alive, and the Kingdoms are awakening

The Way of the Witch – December 2020

Just before Solstice, I wrote about the Jupiter Saturn conjunction at 0° Aquarius – truly the beginning of a new era (and ending the previous 200 year Earth cycle that brought us ‘banknotes, capitalism, corporations, fossil fuels, and the industrial world’ – yes, I know that was lazy of me to quote, but I was just double-checking the conjunction was actually at 0 degrees – seriously, guys – so auspicious)… and there it was, a nice sentence with everything in it. Besides, we’re all saying the same thing anyway, so why even try to paraphrase?).

Anyway. I was also talking about how important it is to really hold the new vision of what we want to birth in this new world, because now the energies have shifted, they are – frankly – electrical. We’re able to manifest more quickly, more easily, and with far greater precision than ever before – but that doesn’t mean we can just think it or imagine it, and poof! – there we go. Which is a bit of a relief, really…. I don’t like to think about the chaos I could cause if all the thoughts that sailed in and about my monkey-like mind got actually/inadvertently (accidentally) – birthed into the world.

None of us are angels, and this is probably why, quite fortunately, the concepts delivered in ‘spiritual self-help’ books like The Secret just don’t work on their own. It actually quite irritated me, reading that so many years ago. Imagining things into being? That’s more like day-dreaming, or wishful thinking. Absolutely useless.

Real alchemy doesn’t quite work like that. When we focus only on the conscious, visionary, idealistic (dare I say it? – pure) part of who we are and what we desire… Well. We’re actually missing something vital from the whole brew.

We need to bring in our feelings and deeply charged emotions, too – and stir them all into the cauldron to boot.

We have to live what we want. We have to breathe it. Feel it deeply inside us. Embody it. We have to become it, already, before we can attract it.

So, then – from a purely magical/energetic perspective – what does this actually look like?

It means drawing up the energy from the Earth – and I’m not just talking about the Earth we’re walking around on (although meditations that start off any practice by visualising going down into her core and drawing her energy back up through the soles of your feet is a really good start). But I’m actually talking here about the Earth that’s transporting you about on a daily basis…

Yep… your body – that is inextricably part of the Universe; that is made of all the elements, and is woven into the totality …of all that is.

There has to be real power behind your intention. And this power comes from the body and the soul; from the deep creative womb of your subconscious mind, and your deeply wise, intuitive cells. This is the feminine aspect of your being. As opposed to masculine energy, which is all about doing and expressing in the external world – this is all about the power of our felt sense to move through, and magnetize, and call things in.

Wonder why the whole world has been at virtual standstill all year? The tides are turning back to a more feminine way of being and living. I’ve heard it said that the Universal energies at play are now at 70% yin – which basically means that the time for striving and pushing and trying and forcing, are, quite simple, done and dusted. Those methods just won’t work for us anymore.

It’s time to try the new way.

And here’s how it goes:

You invoke all the sensations and feelings in your body associated with your vision – and then you use them to charge the living $!^@ out of it

You can charge and raise your energy in many ways – by dancing with wild abandon (and I don’t mean after a few shots of sambuca; I mean as an ecstatic spiritual practice…because, yes, spiritual connection can be wild as you like – and is actually damn well meant to be).

And you can also do this by singing, chanting, whooping, drumming – hell, crying and throwing a tantrum on the floor if that’s what comes up first – and (this is key) enjoying the release of it – so that any stagnant old repressed and negative energy can swiftly transform…and then you can channel all that potent magic wherever you want it to go, baby.

Now – this little bit about ‘releasing’ any unwanted energies first is hell-to-the-yes important. This is the thing when we’re too habituated to being stuck inside our analytical heads: we tend to have little or no idea as to the real feelings and emotions that are hidden right down there in the depths of our subconscious caves – blocking and impeding the creation of our conscious wishes at every single turn.

And this is why the Work we have to do from here on in is really to get right into our bodies and into our heart-spaces. Simple, embodied presence. Just feeling whatever arises, without the attachment of any stories we think are related to them; those psychological programs – that are actually all illusions. Freeing ourselves up, so we can actually start to release that power that had hitherto been all caught up in keeping those tired old tales – and our egoic identities – intact.

Less thinking. More feeling.

And then we can really start living and breathing the way our Soul came here to live and breathe – that is more in alignment with the reality we long for.

And when we’re living from this space, we can’t fail but attract our deepest desires. When we’re living fro this space within, we become magnetic.

As our friend Mahatma Gandhi once said: ‘Be the change you want to see in this world‘* (*as opposed to ‘get money; get b*tches’, as a guest once wrote on our free-for-all graffiti hostel wall I once owned here on Koh Phangan).

True manifestation calls for absolute embodiment.

It’s not about staying attached to the mind, anymore. The mind is a garbled mess of programs. It’s all about the body, and the heart, the gut, and sensation.

And … Sex magic? Potent as hell. I met a girl a few months ago here on the island who said that for the past several years, she and her husband have never wasted an orgasm.

To reiterate, then: it’s just not enough to visualize and dream. We have to feel very deeply what we want to create, and we have to stand by it in every moment. We have to know it’s here (because we damn well commanded it so). Now, who would you be if you already had it? And how can you bring in this vibration right this moment? This is how the wheels of creation start turning. No more wishful thinking or plain old imagining. And no more blaming, and no more being stuck in our own created dramas. It’s time, now, to take total self-responsibility for all that we are and for all that we have. We have to take all our power back.

And then walk forward with full trust, and a new, aligned purpose.

About the author - meet Diana Shamanic

Just over ten years ago, Diana Shamanic (aka Karen Farini) left her London life (as co-founder and owner of burlesque supper club Volupté) to go tripping 'round Asia. Here, she would ultimately wind up escaping yet another brush with muggle existence, after a 3-year stint running a same-but-different business (this time a backpacking hostel on the island of Koh Phangan in Thailand). By 2018, though... Well, let's just say her inner world had started to shift quite dramatically.... After various stints in Bali, Israel and the jungles of Peru, she's back again living on this magical crystal island, where she's just about to open 'Pandora's Box', offering psychic astrology readings and shamanic journeying into the body and beyond.
